Animals and Reiki

I am consistently amazed by the outcome of Reiki, even though I preform reiki on my own pets often, the benefits noticed after Reiki are always a pleasant surprise. Recently, I assisted one of my cats, Joise, to transition from life in this world into whatever awaits her in death by performing Reiki on her as she passed.

Joise is a very special cat to me. I signed up to volunteer at an organization that saves, heals and finds forever homes for cats and kittens in my area. I wanted to be a foster, which meant that I would take in cats, keep them in my home, look after them as if they were my own, and then find forever homes for them. Josie was my first foster cat. I connected with her imminently. She was an older cat, she was very skinny, and she had been hit by a car. A man had found her on the side of the road and rushed her to the shelter, where she had surgery to fix her broken pelvis. The bone that she had broken was called "Iskeum", which is what the her name become on her file.

I took her into my house, three days after her surgery, and soon started to call her Josie instead of Iskeum. To learn more about her story, watch this video. The video is older and I apologize for the quality that is not up to my current standards. But it has some great clips of Josie.

Josie was very talkative, gentle, and loved the company of people. She never scratched or hissed, she would let me pet her anywhere, anytime! On her vet visit, the vet estimated that she was 10 + years old. She was on medication for low thyroid and kidney issues, so her health wasn't great. I gave her Reiki often and I think that she really appreciated it. I was so grateful that I was there where she was passing and I was able to give her Reiki as she transitioned.

Performing Reiki on my pets and other animals has really strengthened my bond with animals. I wish to give other animals that same benefits that I see my own animals gaining from Reiki. Reiki has assisted my nervous and anxious cat that never let anyone pet her to become friendly and confident. She even now comes to sit on my lap! Something I didn't think she would ever do, I thank Reiki for that. I also notice my highly active puppy calm down and relax when Reiki is being preformed and my other cat always comes to try to sit on my lap or beside me when another animal is getting Reiki, so that he can also soak up the benefits.

What exactly is Reiki

Reiki (pronounced "ray-key") originated in Japan and is a Japanese word that translates to "universal life energy" or "spiritual energy". Reiki uses energy to heal as all living beings have life energy flowing through them. When that energy is high, pets are healthy, relaxed and balanced. When that energy is low, pets are more likely to get sick, be affected by stress, and become less resilient. Reiki is a wonderful complement to other medicines and treatments. Reiki Enhances overall well-being. Even healthy pets may have occasional physical, emotional and mental imbalances that, if left untreated, can manifest as illness.

Why Reiki is Ideal for Animals

-It can address any problem an animal may have; physical, mental, emotional or spiritual, without us needing to know which issue the animals needs assistance with

-It is gentle and noninvasive, yet powerful

-It heals the origin of the problem, even without knowing what the origin is

-It can do no harm

-It cannot be overdone

-It always heals, even if you don't see any outward solution

-It works well with all other methods of healing, treatment, and medication

How does distance Reiki work?

Reiki can be given remotely because the practitioner connects to the unique frequency of energy in the animal. Once the connection is made, healing energy is sent to the pet. Human receivers of distance Reiki report the same sensations of a hands-on healing experience. These sensations are heat or tingling in certain parts of the body, a sense of calm and peace, and a deep sense of relaxation.
